Alvin Williams is co-founder and the current President and CEO of Black America’s Political Action Committee (BAMPAC). BAMPAC is a non-partisan federal PAC whose primary mission is to mobilize support for African American candidates and candidates generally who advocate a common sense approach in resolving the important issues facing America in the 21st century. Over the last thirteen years, BAMPAC has emerged as one of the nation’s premiere Political Action Committees. During his tenure, BAMPAC’s political donor base has grown to over 137,000 donors, and has generated more than $1.6 million in direct and assisted contributions to various candidates seeking office at the local, state, and federal levels. BAMPAC is currently the largest minority PAC and ranks among the top PACs among 4,000 in the United States. BAMPAC actively advocates its core issues through media campaigns; provides quantitative and qualitative analysis on issues of importance to its growing constituency; and promotes the tenets of democracy and political action globally.
Throughout his career, Williams has been committed to demonstrating that the African American political viewpoint is not monolithic. Drawing upon over 15 years of dedicated service to the public policy arena, Mr. Williams has worked to assure that BAMPAC is an organization that takes a common sense approach to the pressing issues of the day. BAMPAC-supported candidates seeking office on all levels of government are well equipped with the strategic, financial, and tactical resources necessary to wage a formidable campaign. Alvin Williams has been noted as a “Rising Star” and “Top Political Action Leader” by Campaigns & Elections Magazine; and was named one of the “50 Leaders of the Future” by Ebony Magazine. He has also been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Atlanta Journal Constitution. His first class ability to convey engaging political analysis with humor and wit has been featured on such shows as ABC’s Nightline, Fox News’ Special Report with Brit Hume, BET Nightly News, and CBS Nightly News with Dan Rather. His editorial columns on a variety of current issues appear regularly in top newspapers nationwide. Mr. Williams has also served as a keynote speaker, and panelist on a variety of political topics in Washington and around the nation. A graduate of George Washington University’s Graduate School for Political Management (Washington, DC) and South Carolina State University, Williams entered national politics by working on the Bush campaign in 1987, later serving on then President Bush’s Transition Team. Williams has also served at the Republican National Committee, and has advised candidates in several campaigns for city, county, state and federal offices, including U.S. House and Senate. Mr. Williams has increased global awareness of BAMPAC through participation in the UN African Development Forum held in Ethiopia, the Conference on Democracy and Free Trade held in Doha, Qatar, and the American Swiss Foundation Young Leaders Conference held in Switzerland. In 2001, Williams led a delegation of political leaders to Argentina/Uruguay sponsored by the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL), and served as a Delegate for an ACYPL U.S. Mission to South Africa in 1998. He also served as Delegate of the International Republican Institute (IRI) to observe the Croatian Parliamentary Elections (1/3/00) and Nigerian Presidential Elections (4/19/03). Mr. Williams is a member and past President of the Board of Directors for Mentors, Inc., an organization that promotes the academic, career, and personal development of public high school students through one-on-one mentoring and enrichment activities. He also sits on the Board of Directors for the National Chamber Foundation, (a non-profit, public policy think tank affiliated with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce), and the Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO), a national organization promoting enhanced educational options for all children. Mr. Williams is married with two daughters and resides in Clarksburg, Maryland.
